The 2022 GO Lab Visiting Fellows of Practice were announced, featuring a distinguished group of practitioners from the public, voluntary, and private sectors. Each year, the Government Outcomes Lab appointed a select number of leading practitioners to support their mission of advancing research and practice in addressing complex social needs. These Fellows brought extensive practical insights and experience from diverse fields, ensuring the lab’s work remained responsive and relevant to those implementing outcomes-focused partnerships for better social outcomes.
Avnish Gungadurdoss was selected as one of the Visiting Fellows of Practice, joining a cohort of fifteen practitioners from various backgrounds and expertise spanning sectors and countries. The group comprised international economists, lawyers, and development leaders who pioneered innovative financing tools in low- and middle-income countries. Additionally, public servants championing evidence-based approaches and driving collaboration for system change, as well as practitioners with decades of experience in improving public services, were part of the distinguished cohort.
The Fellows’ contributions were voluntary, encompassing activities such as providing input into research and analytical work, speaking at events, authoring and reviewing papers, and sharing knowledge to strengthen the global community of practitioners. Their selection was an honor, as they served as the lab’s “eyes and ears on the ground,” ensuring the organization remained responsive to the needs of practitioners and policymakers. Dr Mara Airoldi, the Academic Director of the Government Outcomes Lab, expressed her anticipation of engaging with the Fellows and witnessing the insightful discussions and outputs that would evolve throughout the year.
Collectively, the Fellows possessed a wealth of experience and knowledge. They championed the social value approach in government, rethought performance management and outcomes measurement, and worked at various levels to find innovative solutions to complex social problems, driving positive change in society.
